Diana Gonzalez Gandolfi of Highland Park works with encaustic, a
hot wax technique, and oil on wood. She creates surreal images where
lines swirl and float in the a multi-planed palate. The result is
both rustic and mystical. Her paintings are often an exploration
of both the physical elements of the medium and the artist's metaphorical
imagery. Organic color, texture, and archetypal references are integral
to Gandolfi's paintings, as illustrated in Vanities and Serpentines,
located in the main elevator corridor at The Heldrich.
