In his elaborate series of oil paintings featuring fruit and flowers
still life, realist painter David Ahlsted juxtaposes nature's organic
and geometric shapes. Reflection of the vivid colors through glass
and water connects spaces within a piece. The inverted and warped
shapes that result add a surreal dimension to everyday items. Ahlsted's
White Lotus, Cantaloupes, and Lily & Melon Freize
are a distinctive complement to the trendy and spirited decor of
Christopher's Restaurant. Ahlsted is also a professor of fine art
at Stockton State College.
